Why do we get up every day?

Updated: Jan 23, 2020

Why do we get up every day? What is the point as to why we decide to wake up and go blindly into an uncertain day? Often times, I have asked myself "is my existence brought on by a cosmic fluke that is pieced together by random choices?" or "Did God have a purpose as to why I was put here?"

Each day can feel like a game show, always waiting to see what is behind door number one, and as each day passes, we are opening doors, pulling drapes, and spinning wheels all to see the probability and likelihood of something special. Is there real reason to get up every day?

What you see, is not all that God has

Your eyes is the gateway to your experiences in life. No one could ever experience life from your perspective. However, the only problem is that our perspective is flawed by blind spots. There are things in life that we can never see coming and other things that will block us from seeing beyond what is in front of us.

Therefore, don't only rely on your eyes. Because if life was to only be measured by what we see, no one would get up.

But the word of God calls us "to fix our eyes on Jesus" Hebrews 12:2 Jesus sees the blind spots and makes provision for those unforeseen areas. Because it is written,

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” -1 Corinthians 2:9

You have yet to see what God has for you.

God thought of you BEFORE creating you

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you," Jeremiah 1:5

Vision is beyond what our natural eyes can see. Our natural vision from our eye sight serves as navigation into the natural world. However, your true vision shows you what has not yet taken place. There are limitations to our eyes. Therefore, we need God to step into where we are limited.

The big WHY we are seeking for every day is purpose. Everything, absolutely everything, has a reason. The prefix “pur” means before. The suffix pose means to place or put. Therefore, purpose means "placed before", or "original intent".

The key word is BEFORE. God understood what he was doing even before creating. He always thought of you. He went Before everything, I mean EVERYTHING, even what you may be experiencing now and understood your necessity.

We push and inspire others

When we get up every day some of us get up and live our lives with no care in the world, not realizing how we affect each other. Purpose is established long before inception.

Our reason for being isn't usually only for our vain desires but for one another. Martin Luther King Jr., Thomas Edison, Einstein, even Michael Jordan all had a moment to ask why? But not realizing that their “why” gave others a why.

The other day I watched a DC comic show called “Legends of Tomorrow.” The premise of the show was time travel. The main character stressed multiple times the severity of how changing a past event would affect the present time line. Similarly, If you don’t get up and do what you are suppose to do it WILL affect others and God's time line for us. You never know in whose radius you are in, or whom you can give reason to move forward.

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had," Romans 15:5

There is no situation you can't get through

Some of our problems today is misinterpretation of our situations in life. We can’t tell the difference between a boundary and a barrier and because of that we struggle to get pass it. If something comes our way we see it as a boundary—a line that marks the limit of an area.

We may become discouraged by what is in front of us thinking that we can't go past it. However, sometimes what is really in front of us is actually a barrier —a fence or an impenetrable wall. However, with a wall or a fence, you actually have the capability to go over it, break through it, go under it, move it, or simply walk through it. Even if there is a boundary before you it may mark a place that is not for you. Be aware of what is before and don't let a barrier stop you from your destiny

The real you is locked inside

Jacob was the father to 12 sons. But Israel is the Father to many nations. Israel was in Jacob before he even knew. His experiences, and who he was born as was Jacob. But, his purpose was to be Israel. You need to get up in order to meet YOU.

We all have greatness locked on the inside of us, ready to come out. This is why we need get up to know our purpose. God wants you to see what was always BEFORE you. Get up because your existence matters to God, others, and time.

Who you are to become depends on it.
