Meet Teri Watson the "Hood Architect" originally from Houston, Texas who is currently living in Miami, FL as an Architectural designer and Founder/Owner of YEN Studios. Teri has her BA Degree in Architectural Studies from Florida A&M University (FAMU) and her Master's Degree in Architecture from Florida International University (FIU). She is an Architectural independent contractor working along with two firms in Miami, Florida.
It was a great privilege to speak to my former colleague and peer from both undergrad and graduate school. In this interview, Teri walks us through her story from being told she would always be an architect and pushing through the boundaries of starting her undergraduate degree program late, having great mentors, and beginning her business. Teri has just recently began a new project called The Neighborhood Architects(TNA), a database to find your very own neighborhood architect. As I told her, "Her steps are ordered."
